Following the US Supreme Court's ruling on gay marriage, a number of national gay rights groups sent out a series of fact sheets which offer guidance to same-sex couples and their families on a wide range of topics including (but not limited to): bankruptcy; benefits & protections for civilian federal employees & their spouses; Family & Medical Leave Act for non-federal employees; federal taxes; the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); immigration; medicaid; medicare spousal protections; military spousal benefits; private employment issues & benefits; Social Security spousal & family protections; SSI for aged, blind & disabled; Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF); veterans' spousal benefits.
