Adult Adoption

The most common scenario in adult adoption; former foster children — now adults — who are being adopted by their long-time foster parents. In rare cases, adoption experts say, adults who have lost or are estranged from their biological parents befriend older people who begin to feel like mothers and fathers — and they ultimately seek to legalize that emotional attachment.

If you are considering an adult adoption, the Bristol County Probate and Family Court has provided a chart with a list of the forms used to initiate and/or make changes to an Adoption of an Adult followed by a brief description and link to the forms. In some cases there are also instructions for these forms.
