The Value of Public Libraries

The Pew Research Center recently issued a report called "How Americans Value Public Libraries in Their Communities."   The report was based on survey results of Americans aged 16 years or older.  Overall Americans value public libraries for "providing access to materials and for promoting literacy and improving the overall quality of life."  The report includes statistical data on the importance of public libraries and Americans' perceptions and awareness of library services.
