Consumer Complaints and Resources

We have all experienced disappointment with a product or service, but how many of us actually follow through to write a letter expressing our dissatisfaction?

USA.gov has some resources that will help  write an effective letter to a company by providing a sample. They also provide steps to take for specific types of complaints, such as credit card, identity theft, telemarketing, and many others.

In fact, this federal website has numerous resources on consumer protection, such as how to protect yourself against consumer scams (including current scams you should be aware of), how to be a smart shopper, and how to check for product safety recals.  There is also a handy directory of state and local consumer agencies.

Best of all, you can access the "Consumer Action Handbook" that includes all of the above as well as a directory of corporate consumer contacts.  Read or download it to your computer or e-reader or order a free paper copy.  Be a savvy consumer!
