MassLegal Services, the online resource for Massachusetts Poverty Law Advocates, has a new Find Legal Aid/Directory section on its website.
A low income Massachusetts resident seeking help with a civil legal problem, fills in their geographical location, age, income and household size. They are then led through questions requiring a yes or no answer, after choosing one of 15 general areas, such as Housing, Family or Government Benefits. When the search screen appears, the user clicks on it and gets the results.
The results are a combination of legal services programs and non-profits to be contacted and additional resources with links to websites containing information on the issue. There is also a link to Lawyer Referral Services to use in hiring an attorney on almost every page.
