6.25% sales tax to be charged on Amazon purchases, beginning Nov 1

Beginning Friday, Nov. 1, a 6.25% sales tax will be applied to purchases made on Amazon (except purchases from third-party vendors selling on Amazon's website).  Retailers in Massachusetts hope that this tax will help to level the playing field and increase retailers' holiday sales since state retailers are losing millions in sales to e-commerce every year.  If you have a big purchase to make on Amazon (and want to avoid the tax), you might consider making it today or tomorrow.
