Affordable Care Act in Massachusetts - Did You Receive an Enrollment Packet?
Health Connector, an independent state agency that helps Massachusetts residents find health care coverage, is reaching out to all those who may be affected by the changes brought about by the Affordable Care Act. These efforts include a massive mailing of enrollment packets to over 100,000
people, emailing, outbound calling, among others, to provide new information
to over a quarter of a million people. If you receive an enrollment packet, read all the materials thoroughly, and gather together the documents listed in the enrollment packet in
the section "Before You Apply" before seeking further enrollment
assistance. For anyone with questions about the new law, there are several different ways to get your questions answered. There are navigators (assigned
by region), certified application counselors, and customer assistance by phone that can help, in addition to the
Health Connector
website which is a wealth of information. Applicants will need an email
address in order to sign up. Open enrollment goes from October 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014. Coverage can start as early as January 1, 2014 if you apply by December 23, 2013.
