Historic Worcester Courthouse to be sold to city of Worcester
According to a Worcester Magazine article, lawyers from all over the Commonwealth have conducted business in Worcester's historic courthouse. The building has stood empty and boarded up since it's final resident vacated in May, 2009. Once the site of historic events such as the trial of Bathsheba Spooner and Quork Walker, the old Worcester Courthouse will be developed by the City of Worcester. Section 45 of Chapter 118 of the Acts of 2013 allowed the sale for $1. In exchange for the City of Worcester paying all closing costs, expenses, and cost of renovations, the City will split the net proceeds of any subsequent sale or lease with the Commonwealth.
